New Delhi: In a fatal incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district, a 38-year-old journalist named Dilip Saini was stabbed to death late last night. Shahid Khan, a BJP leader and friend of Saini’s, was injured while triyingh to protect him, police said. Authorities said that initial findings suggest Saini was familiar with the assailants and that a dispute led to the deadly confrontation.

Khan, who is associated with the BJP’s minority wing, said, “We were eating together when Saini received a phone call. Shortly after, the attackers arrived and they began stabbing Dilip. I intervened, and they attacked me as well. Shots were fired and Dilip didn’t survive,” Khan said.

Dispute likely sparked fatal attack in Fatehpur

Police said that both men were first taken to the district hospital before being referred to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital in Kanpur. Saini succumbed to his injuries during the transfer. Fatehpur’s police chief, Dhawal Jaiswal, said that the incident occurred in the Kotwali area, saying, “Dilip Saini was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead by doctors. Initial investigations reveal that the individuals involved knew each other, and a dispute likely triggered the attack. A case is being registered and all aspects will be investigated to ensure appropriate action is taken.”
