New Delhi: “Jointness is not just a vision — it’s India’s operational reality,” the Ministry of Defence on Sunday announced in a post on the social media platform X, days after Operation Sindoor was carried out successfully.
The post pointed out that Operation Sindoor, which was started on May 7, marked a crucial shift in India’s defence doctrine. It showcased the coordination of the tri-services, and technological superiority.
Operation Sindoor was launched in response to the May 22 Pahalgam terror attack. It was conceived as a punitive and targeted campaign to dismantle the terror infrastructure across the Line of Control and deeper inside Pakistan.
The Ministry of Defence pointed out that precision airstrikes reflected seamless multi-domain warfare. Intelligence gathered from multiple agencies confirmed the presence of nine major camps, which were subsequently targeted during the operation. The operation unfolded across land, air, and sea — a seamless demonstration of synergy between the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy.

The Indian Air Force carried out precise airstrikes on targets such as the Nur Khan Air Base and the Rahimyar Khan Air Base. The Navy deployed its Carrier Battle Group (CBG), featuring MiG-29K fighter jets and airborne early warning helicopters. The Indian Army and Border Security Force (BSF) conducted coordinated operations, highlighting the effectiveness of joint force collaboration.
Robust systems like Integrated Air Command and Control System (IACCS) and Akash Missile provided more power to the operation. These were supported by guidance of Chief of Defence Staff-led Department of Military Affairs (DMA), and Integrated Theatre Commands, as well as Joint Logistics Nodes. Real-time joint exercises like Prachand Prahar and Desert Hunt also had a vital role to play.
The Ministry of Defence also underlined that as the Armed Forces carry out reforms while marking ‘Year of Defence Reforms 2025’, Operation Sindoor stands as a bold statement that India is united, future-ready, and firm to fight against cross-border terrorism.
