‘Job is to keep them quiet’: Pat Cummins sends message to Rohit and Co. ahead of BGT

New Delhi: Team India will face Australia in the five-match Test series, starting November 22 in Perth. The Men in Blue are under pressure after losing the home Test series against New Zealand. Their chances to qualify for the third consecutive World Test Championship (WTC) Final also took a hit.

Rohit and Co. are still ranked first in the WTC standings but need at least four wins to qualify for the final. Before the start of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India still has one Test match to play against New Zealand in Mumbai. The Men in Blue will look to win the match and regain some much-needed confidence ahead of the big series.

‘They’ve performed well in Australia’: Pat Cummins

Ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Australian captain Pat Cummins has said that Team India has done well in Australia and his team will try to keep them quiet this time. The Men in Blue have won the last two Test series played in Australia.

“I hope so. I think any time a team’s under pressure, it’s not a bad thing if you’re playing against them. But they’ve been out here before and performed well. Our job is to try and keep them quiet, see how we go” Cummins told AAP at the launch of his book ‘Tested’ in Sydney.

In 2018-19, India defeated Australia for the first time when the likes of David Warner and Steve Smith were suspended. In the 2020-21 series, Australia won the first Test match in Adelaide but Team India made a stunning comeback and won the series by 2-1. However, Pat Cummins sounded confident and said that his team is in a really good place and they will do well against under pressure Rohit and Co.

“We’ve lost the two series against them (in Australia), so this is a big one. We feel like our team is in a really good place, so we’ve got no reason why we shouldn’t perform really well” Cummins added.
