New Delhi: An encounter has erupted between security forces and terrorists in the Watergam area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore, the Kashmir Zone Police posted on X on Saturday. The area has been cordoned off and the search operation is currently underway, it added.
According to the initial reports two to three terrorists have been trapped during an encounter. The joint operation was carried out by J&K police and the 32 Rashtriya Rifles (32 RR).
The encounter was triggered when a patrolling party, comprising the local police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) came under fire from terrorists in the area and tried to escape from the spot.
