JEE Main 2025: NTA discontinues optional questions in Section B

New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 will no longer include optional questions in Section B. The JEE Main paper will now be set in the original examination format like it was before the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the pandemic, the NTA introduced a temporary option allowing candidates to attempt any 5 questions out of 10 in Section B of each subject. This flexibility was provided to address challenges posed by the pandemic and was in place from JEE Main 2021 to 2024. However, with the World Health Organization (WHO) declaring an end to the COVID-19 public health emergency on May 5, 2023, the NTA has decided to revert to the original exam structure.

For JEE (Main) 2025, candidates will now be required to attempt all 5 questions in Section B without any optional choices. This rule applies to Paper 1 (B.E./B. Tech), Paper 2A (B. Arch), and Paper 2B (B. Planning).
