New Delhi: Days after the Pahalgam terror attack, as many as six policemen have been transferred from Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir. The order was issued on Monday.
Among those transferred included Inspector Reyaz Ahmad, who has been relieved of his duties at Pahalgam Police Station. The terror attack in Pahalgam last month led to the death of 26 civilians and injuring several others. The incident led to massive anger across the country.
Officials transferred days after the Pahalgam Terror Attack
According to reports published in Hindustan Times, Ahmad has been transferred to the ASP Camp in Aishmuqam for further duties. Among others who have been transferred include Jammu and Kashmir police officials Nisar Ahmad, Aishmuqam, Salinder Singh, Peer Ahmad Gulzar, and Parvaiz Ahmad. The reshuffles have been ordered when questions are being raised on security lapses when the terror attack took place in Pahalgam. Authorities have not shared any official reason behind the transfer of these officials.
Tensions have increased between India and Pakistan after the attack, with New Delhi announcing several steps against Islamabad. Among the major steps taken is the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, canceling visas of Pakistani citizens visiting India, and reducing its staff strength in the Indian embassy in Pakistan among others.
On Monday, India ordered mock drills to be conducted in several parts of the country on May 7. Apart from these India also closes its airspace for Pakistani airlines fter similar steps were taken by Islamabad. On its part Pakistan also suspended Simla agreement.
