“It was consensual sex”, Pune bus rape accused makes shocking claims in court

Pune: Pune rape accused Dattatraya Ramads Gade, who was arrested from Shirur tehsil after a nearly 72-hour manhunt on Friday morning, was produced in the Pune court. The accused has now been sent to 12 days police custody.

Police had sought a 14-day custody for probing the case but was granted 12 days. Meanwhile, the lawyer of the accused Gade claimed that it was act if consensual sex and no rape involved as claimed by the woman.

The CCTV footage allegedly shows the victim voluntarily entering the bus where the alleged rape incident took place. However, the public prosecutor told the court that the accused has six cases registered against him in the past and has criminal antecedents.

He said that out of these six cases against Gade, five involve female complainants. The accused, Dattatreya Gade, has been sent to police custody until March 12.
