New Delhi: Sanjay Dutt’s cult-classic movie Munna Bhai MBBS has been a fan favourite for years. With fans going back to re-visit the franchise’s two instalments, Munna and Circuit’s characters have become pretty iconic roles in Bollywood history. So, when director Rajkumar Hirani dropped some exciting news, fans lost all their cool.
While speaking at an event, Rajkumar Hirani shared that he has not one, but five half-finished scripts for the next Munna Bhai movie with Sanjay Dutt. That’s right! Fans’ hope to see Sanjay Dutt reprise Munna’s role on the big screen finally seems to be coming to fruition. Here is what the director said.
Is Munna Bhai 3 in the works?
At The Indian Express event, Rajkumar Hirani explained that he has worked as long as six months on each of the five scripts, but couldn’t progress the story past the interval mark. As for the titles, Rajkumar Hirani revealed that he has ideas such as Munna Bhai LLB, Munna Bhai Chal Base, and Munna Bhai Chale Amreeka, among others. So, what’s the biggest obstacle Rajkumar Hirani faced while attempting to complete a script?
Well, the director explained that he wishes for the third instalment to be better than the previous ones. He added that in the long list of movies in the last century, everything has been done. But, not to worry, according to the director, he has a unique idea that might just work. After all these years, what was it that urged Rajkumar Hirani to push for Munna Bhai 3?
The director revealed that his biggest fear that drove him to begin working on Munna Bhai‘s third instalment was that he left the audience on a cliffhanger. He further added that Sanjay Dutt has also shown interest in taking on Munna Bhai’s character once again. The panel ended with Rajkumar Hirani ‘seriously’ considering to kickstart the next Munna Bhai movie.
