Influencer says Bengaluru has no ‘soul’; compares city to Mumbai in viral video

Mumbai: Social media influencer Apoorva sparked another Mumbai vs Bengaluru debate after stating that India’s tech capital lacked a “soul”. While Apoorva’s opinion did not sit well with many, others sided with her and shared their views about the city.

Speaking in a YouTube podcast hosted by Ayush Wadhwa, founder of Owled Media, the influencer shared her experiences in both cities. During the conversation, Apoorva praised the auto-rickshaw drivers in Mumbai and claimed that the city was extremely safe even past midnight. She said that she once passed out in an auto in Mumbai at 3 am and was woken up by the driver asking her to pay him the fare. Meanwhile, Apoorva claimed that her experience in Bengaluru was entirely different. The content creator stated that the rickshaw drivers refused to speak to her as she didn’t know Kannada.

“The auto drivers were not speaking to me because I do not know. I do not know Kannada…Brother, I am paying you, please talk to me,” said Apoorva. She said her experience left her feeling that the city had no “soul”. “In Mumbai too people are hustling but they are creative and it has the finest talent in the country…,” said the influencer.

Apoorva’s comparison of the two cities ignited a social media debate. Netizens went back and forth about the merits and demerits of the two cities. Some claimed that the influencer was just trying to go viral.

One netizen commented, “Imagine blaming a city to get famous, just cause one driver spoke to you doesn’t make the whole city safe.”

Well, the debate continues!
