New Delhi: In a major development that underscores its commitment to advanced technology, the Indian Army has transferred the technology for mass production of two groundbreaking innovations: the Xploder and Agniastra, which is created by the Army Design Bureau. The move marks a huge advancement in the “Year of Tech Absorption,” and highlighted the Army’s dedication to improving its capabilities. The Transfer of Technology (ToT) process is being facilitated by the Foundation of Innovation & Technology Transfer at IIT Delhi.
The ToT ceremony was attended by Vice Chief of the Army Staff, Lt Gen NS Rajasubramani, which marks a big milestone in the transition to large-scale production and integration into field operations. Lt Gen Rajasubramani praised the Army Design Bureau for its role in promoting innovation through the ToT process.
About Xploder and Agniastra
The Xploder, an advanced Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV), is made for a variety of combat and operational roles. Its all-terrain capabilities enable unmanned reconnaissance, explosive payload delivery and remote disposal of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). The Xploder also includes a self-destruct feature for clearing hideouts and can be used in disaster relief efforts, and it can demonstrate its versatility.
The Agniastra, a Multi-Target Portable Detonation System, represents a huge advancement in remote detonation technology. It can target multiple sites from extended distances, either through manual placement or by using UAVs/UGVs. The system is expected to revolutionise both conventional and counter-terrorism operations and allows for precise interventions in rooms, demolitions of bunkers and large-scale destruction of infrastructure.
