Kolkata: The Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police have conducted a joint operation in which a terrorist has been killed. The encounter took place in Basantgarh in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The codename of the operation is ‘Operation Bihali’, and as per the White Knight Corps of the Army, the terrorist has been “neutralized” but the operation is still going on.
Earlier in the day, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attended the SCO Summit in China’s Qingdao where he put forward his views on terrorism, the multilateral world order and the increasing menace of terrorism and the rise of weapons in the world, at the meeting. He also talked about the need for peace and prosperity for all.
He talked about the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 that killed 26 civilians and Operation Sindoor, the Indian Armed Force’s retaliation against terrorism. Singh said, “Peace and prosperity cannot co-exist with terrorism and proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction in the hands of non-state actors and terror groups. Dealing with these challenges requires decisive action and we must unite in our fight against these evils for our collective safety and security.”
He further said, “Some countries use cross-border terrorism as an instrument of policy and provide shelter to terrorists. There should be no place for such double standards. SCO should not hesitate to criticise such nations.”
