New Delhi: United Kingdom (UK) and India have sealed the deal for a free trade agreement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi confirmed the major development on Tuesday. This will be a significant boost to bilateral relations for both countries. The strategic partnership also includes the conclusion of the Double Contribution Convention.
PM Modi took to his X account to make the announcement after the completion of the conversation with his UK counterpart Keir Starmer.
“Delighted to speak with my friend PM @Keir_Starmer. In a historic milestone, India and the UK have successfully concluded an ambitious and mutually beneficial Free Trade Agreement, along with a Double Contribution Convention,” Modi wrote on X.
“These landmark agreements will further deepen our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and catalyse trade, investment, growth, job creation, and innovation in both our economies. I look forward to welcoming PM Starmer to India soon,” the PM added.
