New Delhi: A war-like situation currently prevails between India and Pakistan. Pakistan has been trying to target several Indian cities, especially those with military establishments in the past 2 days. Amidst the tension several cities in Punjab were targeted with drones on Friday night and early Saturday morning. However the Army successfully neutralised all the drones. But loud sounds continued in several cities in the state, till late in the night.
The situation along the international border continues to be tense. On Saturday morning, Amritsar was attacked by Pakistani drones, but the air force successfully shot it down. Following the attack, a red alert has been sounded in the entire city. Residents have been advised to remain indoors.
The administration said that sirens may be sounded any time and people must remain alert. The immediate action by the Indian Army is a message to Pakistan that any action against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country will not be tolerated.
The Defence Ministry in a statement said that drones have been sighted at 26 locations along the International Border and LoC with Pakistan. Some of these drones may be loaded with arms. The Indian armed forces are on high alert and all such aerial threats (drones) are being monitored. Officials said that there is no need to panic, but people need to remain alert and take precautions. Following the attempted drone attacks, security has been heightened in Amritsar and nearby border areas in Punjab.
Red alert in Amritsar
Pakistan conducted a drone attack on Amritsar at 5 am on Saturday. The drone attack was followed by firing. The missiles fired by the neighbouring country were successfully neutralised by the Indian armed forces.
Following the developments, the Amritsar administration has declared a red alert. People have been asked to remain inside their homes and stay away from windows. They further said that people will be informed once the situation normalises.
Debris of missile fired by Pakistan found in Rajasthan
A missile-like object has been recovered from Gida area in Barmer district of Rajasthan. Some remains have also been recovered from 2 fields in Gida, said the Station House Officer of the local police station. The police reached the spot after villagers informed them about the debris in the field.
A missile-like object has also been found in Piraniyon Ki Dhani Pareu village. Police and Army officials are on the spot and are investigating the matter. Apart from this, several drone attacks were carried out in Barmer on Friday night.
Panic struck villagers in Kalu village of Lunkaransar area of Bikaner, late at night when a loud explosion was heard. After the blasts, a missile shell was discovered in the village, which led to panic among residents. There was no damage or death in the incident. The army was informed about the missile shell and a team of experts is investigating the sources of the shell.
