New Delhi: Soon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first address to the nation on Monday night after India-Pakistan ceasefire, 10-12 drones were intercepted in J&K’s Samba amid a blackout. Explosions were heard in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur.
Blackouts were also enforced in Vaishno Devi Bhawan and Yatra Track on Monday night. Small arms firing was reported on the International Border in Samba and Hiranagar in Jammu and Kashmir. The air defence system was also activated in response.
Blackout was also put into place in Amritsar, soon after PM’s speech. At 8.45 pm, the Deputy Commissioner issued alert and residents were asked to turn off lights and move away from windows. Sirens were heard, which the administration said was a precautionary measure. Residents have been asked to stay calm and avoid getting panicky.
During his speech, PM Modi said Operation Sindoor was not just a name, it is an unbroken pledge for justice. He also said that terror and talks cannot go together. “Terror and trade cannot go hand in hand. Water and blood can never flow together,” PM Modi pointed out. “We won’t tolerate nuclear blackmail anymore. India has only paused retaliation against the terrorist and military bases of Pakistan and has not ended it,” he underlined.
