Kolkata: Congress has launched a scathing attack on Zohran Mamdani, the person who has clinched a monumental victory in New York City’s Democratic mayoral primary. Mamdani has become the party’s official nominee, something which has become the talk of the town for all those following the developments with avid interest.
Now, Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi has criticised Mamdani. He has disapproved of the 33-year-old leader born to Indian parents in Uganda and a mayoral candidate for New York. In a social media post, Singhvi said, “When Zohran Mamdani opens his mouth, Pakistan’s PR team takes the day off. India doesn’t need enemies with ‘allies’ like him shouting fiction from New York.”
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said in a post on Truth Social, “It’s finally happened, the Democrats have crossed the line. Zohran Mamdani, a 100% Communist Lunatic, has just won the Dem Primary and is on his way to becoming Mayor. We’ve had Radical Lefties before, but this is getting a little ridiculous.”
He even attacked Mamdani on a personal level and called Mamdani’s looks “terrible” and his voice “grating”. The US President said, “He’s not very smart, he’s got AOC+3, Dummies ALL, backing him, and even our Great Palestinian Senator, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, is groveling over him. With our future Communist Mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani…our Country is really screwed.”
Notably, Mamdani is the son of Mira Nair, the celebrated Indian American filmmaker. His father is Mahmood Mamdani, an Indian-born Ugandan Marxist scholar. Recently, in the Democratic primary election, Mamdani secured 43.5 per cent votes. He has emerged as the potential next mayor of New York City. If he manages to clinch the post, he will become the first Muslim mayor of the city.
