India destroys Pakistani drones in J&K, Punjab, Rajasthan; Blackout in some cities | What we know so far

New Delhi: Pakistan on Friday launched an attack on several parts of India for the second day in a row. As per officials, Pakistani drones were seen in parts of Samba, Pathankot, Uri, Rajouri Jammu, Gurdaspur, Barmer, and Jaisalmer, only to be thwarted by Indian armed forces. There are also reports of heavy shelling by Pakistani armed forces in Samba, Uri, and Rajouri areas of J&K.

There have also been blackouts in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar and Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan. As per NDTV, an explosion was also heard in Srinagar at around 9:20 pm. As per reports three people wer injured after a drone hit a lovcation in Ferozepur, police said.

Air raid sirens were heard in parts of Punjab

Air raid sirens were heard in parts of Pathankot, Ferozepur, Hoshiarour, and Amritsar districts of Punjab. Locals in Ferozepur and Pathankot claimed to hear the sound of explosions. There are several reports from Gurdaspur and Tarn Taran’s Patti area. However, there was no official confirmation, PTI reported. A red alert was also sounded in Rajasthan’s Barmer after which locals were advised to stay indoors.

Taking to X, Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah wrote, “Intermittent sounds of blasts, probably heavy artillery, can now be heard from where I am.” He added, “It’s my earnest appeal to everyone in & around Jammu please stay off the streets, stay at home or at the nearest place you can comfortably stay at for the next few hours. Ignore rumours, don’t spread unsubstantiated or unverified stories & we will get through this together.”

Tensions increased between the two countries since the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 in which 26 people were killed and several were injured. Following this, India on Wednesday started Operation Sindoor against Pakistani terror groups.

A total of nine terror locations were targeted by Indian armed forces. Late on Thursday evening, India intercepted close to 300 to 400 drones. Pakistan tried to target a number of military establishments and several other institutes only to be strongly responded to by India.
