New Delhi: Amid recent escalation between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor, India’s Press Information Bureau (PIB) has decisively debunked Pakistani claims of inflicting damage on Indian airbases, branding these assertions as “misleading and false.”
The PIB’s fact-check unit directly addressed a claim made by Pakistan’s Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), who, during a media briefing, cited an Indian news channel to support allegations of airbase damage. The PIB revealed that the video footage used by Pakistan was deliberately manipulated and selectively edited to create a false narrative.
The PIB’s X post clarified, “Pakistani military in its briefing has shown a video clip aired on @IndiaTV News Channel, implying that Indian channels have admitted to destruction of Indian airbases. This is an attempt by #Pakistan to mislead its own people by editing and cleverly stitching multiple chunks of a larger video. The actual story in the full video says that the attacks were all intercepted, and it shows footage of a Pakistani missile that was shot down.”

In addition to countering the airbase claims, the PIB also dismissed rumours circulating about an artillery exchange along the Line of Control (LoC) as baseless.
These developments followed Operation Sindoor, a retaliatory operation launched by the Indian Armed Forces in the early hours of May 7. This involved strikes on nine terrorist sites located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), responding to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, J&K, which tragically claimed the lives of 26 civilians, including a Nepali national.
