New Delhi: Humans are defined by their humanity. The virtues of empathy and kindness are the founding pillars of our society, and forms the basis of a happy world. One such incident of empathy took place in Rajasthan’s Nagaur, a story which will reinforce our faith in the existence of compassion in today’s world.
In a village in Nagaur, a person named Ramavtar Bawari reportedly have had bad kidney disease for three years. Treatments for kidneys are expensive, and Ramavtar had to sell his farmland for that. But even that was not enough to cover the expenses. In such a scenario, the villagers have come forward to help the financially broken and physically ailing person.
According to the villagers, Ramavtar is their one of their own and they will not let him lose the battle. On the other hand, Ramavatar’s grandmother said that she is ready to donate one of her kidneys to save his life. But she does not have money for further treatment.
The villagers decided that they would help Ramavatar in any way possible. After a village panchayat meeting on this case, the villagers started to collect donations for his treatment. Incredibly, they collected Rs 7.25 lakh in a single day and handed it over to Ramavtar’s family.
According to reports, Ramavtar had to sell all his assets for three years of treatment. After that, he became penniless and lost all hope of getting further treatment. However, fellow villagers came forward to save his life. On Tuesday, a meeting of the villagers was held in the Santosh Nath temple of the village. Ramavatar’s case was discussed and it was decided that they would help him.
Everyone started donating to save Ramavatar. Even daily wage labourers and poor people contributed to the donation fund. Notably, the village’s Sarpanch Rekha Galwa said that her father-in-law donated Rs 2.25 lakh to save Ramavatar’s life. The villagers have decided that this is just the beginning and if needed, they will collect more funds for Ramavatar. Currently, he is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Ahmedabad.
