New Delhi: India is a country where strange incidents happen every other day. One such incident, which has become viral on social media, shows a man disrupting the cremation of his own mother in Jaipur. Why? He was agitated and fighting over a piece of silver jewellery. The video of the incident has become viral, and has garnered the attention of the netizens.
The place of the incident is Jaipur Rural’s Viratnagar region. On May 3, Chheeter Reger passed away, and she was 80 years old. Her sons and relatives took her body to the nearby cremation ground for the final rites. As people began to prepare for the funeral pyre, a heated dispute broke out.
The fight over silver jewellery
The elders of the family, ahead of placing the dead on the cremation pyre, gave her silver bangles and other ornaments to Girdhari Lal, the elder of the deceased who took care of her while she was alive. It infuriated Omprakash, the younger son who angrily reacted to this gesture. What happened next shocked everyone as he stopped the cremation by lying down on the funeral pyre. His demand was he had to be given the silver bangles.
The relatives of the deceased and other people present there tried to convince him to relent and let the cremation take place, but Omprakash was not in a mood to listen to anyone. Also, he threatened to burn himself during the cremation along with the dead body if he was not given the silver bangles. People removed him from the pyre by using force. However, Omprakash sat beside it, and continued his protest.
Finally, he relented only after he was given the ornaments and the cremation began. The funeral, got delayed by almost two hours due to the incident and its video, showing Omprakash vigorously protesting and the chaos at the cremation ground, has now become widely viral on the social media. The villagers have reportedly said that there has been a dispute regarding property for years between Omprakash and his brothers, and the former lives separately from the family and has often felt isolated.
