IMD weather forecast: Heavy rainfall likely in Assam, Karnataka and Maharashtra

IMD weather forecast: Heavy rainfall likely in Assam, Karnataka and Maharashtra

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in the northeastern states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram and Manipur starting from October 2 to October. It has also predicted Isolated heavy rainfall in some parts of the region from October 1 to October 5.

According to the department, fairly widespread to moderate rainfall is also expected in Assam and Meghalaya this week. Apart from this, some parts of Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, and Tripura may also see scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall during the next three days and light to moderate rainfall in the next four days.

Bihar, West Bengal may witness light to moderate rainfall

Some parts of states like Bihar, Andaman and Nicobar, Sikkim, and West Bengal may witness light to moderate rainfall during the week. Other parts of West Bengal Jharkhand and Odisha may witness light to moderate rainfall during the same period.

Similarly, parts of Maharashtra, Kerala, Lakshadeep, and Karnataka may witness fairly widespread to widespread light rainfall during the week, while other parts of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh may too see scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall in the coming days.

Heavy rainfall expected in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu

Several areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Telangana, and Rayalaseema may witness light to moderate rainfall this week. Heavy rain is also expected in parts of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on September 30, while similar weather may be expected in parts of Kerala and Maharashtra till October 1.

Moving on to other parts of the country, isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall is likely over over central India during the week, while scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected in Konkan and Goa same period. Parts of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand may also witness light to moderate rainfall during the week.
