The groom had arrived with his wedding procession, and the family welcomed the guests with full celebrations. The jai mala ceremony took place happily. During the mandap rituals, Neha ate a rasgulla and said her hands were sticky. She left to wash her hands but did not return. When family members checked her room, they found that she was missing. Later, they discovered that she had left with her boyfriend.

Bride’s family gave Rs 2.5 lakh dowry

The bride’s father, Ajay Mandal, who works as a laborer in Delhi along with his family, said they have four daughters and two sons. He explained that Neha’s marriage was fixed last year with Amarjeet Kumar, son of Kapildev Mandal from Baijnathpur village in Sangrampur block. They had also given Rs 2.5 lakh as dowry.

Initially, her marriage was planned for November 2024 during the Chhath festival, but it was postponed by the groom’s side. A new date was set for 23 April 2025, but on the day of the wedding, Neha ran away.

The family has lodged a complaint with Asarganj police station. Police officials said that they have started searching for the missing bride and are investigating the case.
