Devprayag: On Monday morning, a truck plunged into the Ganga River near Sainik Hotel in Devprayag on the Rishikesh Badrinath Highway. After this accident, the truck driver and his wife are feared to have drowned in the river.

In this matter, Devprayag station in-charge Mahipal Singh Rawat reported that on Monday morning, about four kilometers ahead of Devprayag, people laying cables noticed a broken tree near the road parapet and towards the ditch, suspecting a vehicle might have fallen into the river. When Station in-charge Rawat and the police team arrived at the scene, they found the rear part of a truck on the bank of the Ganga, approximately 120 meters below the road, while the cabin of the truck was submerged in the river.

Truck had left for Gopeshwar from Biharigarh

When the police contacted the vehicle owner Tinku, it was learnt that the truck had left for Gopeshwar from Biharigarh carrying mineral water bottles. This tragic incident follows another serious road accident in Devprayag, where a pickup vehicle fell into a gorge, resulting in the death of a young man and injuries to another.
