Thiruvananthapuram: During the Operation Sindoor, an Indian startup played an important role in providing clear and reliable information from space. Kawa Space, founded by Kris Nair from Thiruvananthapuram, shared satellite images that helped confirm the impact of India’s military actions along the western border.
As misinformation spread online, many defence experts and media outlets turned to Kawa Space’s updates. The company regularly posted high-resolution satellite images through its social media accounts, showing visible damage at suspected sites in Pakistan. These images helped support India’s official statements with visual proof and were shared by several defence-focused platforms like Alpha Defence.
Rise of Kawa Space
Kawa Space was started in 2019 with the goal of using satellites for practical applications. Over time, it shifted focus toward security and defence.
The company now provides satellite intelligence that supports not just commercial users but also policy experts, defence watchers, and journalists.
Posts that caught attention
In one of his posts, founder Kris Nair hinted at major updates and later shared images believed to show the Kirana Hills region in Pakistan, an area often discussed in security circles. Although it’s unclear if this site was targeted, the post received attention and highlighted the growing role of private Indian firms in space-based intelligence.
Kawa Space said its aim is to help people by using satellite data and to support national security efforts. While the company started with broader space applications, it now focuses on high-stakes operations and global intelligence.
