New Delhi: Four people died and 9 others sustained injuries after a massive collision between a truck and an auto on Wednesday in the Swaroopganj police station area of Rajasthan’s Sirohi district. The condition of three of the injured is stated to be serious. The three injured were referred to the government hospital after first aid as their condition was stated to be critical.
Swaroopganj ASI Narendra stated that a truck was travelling from Sirohi to Abu Road, carrying a heavy machine made of iron. The truck suddenly hit an auto from behind near Kodarla in the police station area. Due to the impact, the iron machine placed at the back of the truck broke through the cabin and came out. The truck driver, the cleaner, and a woman travelling in the auto lost their lives in the accident instantly. Around 9 other people travelling in the auto were injured and taken to the government hospital for treatment. Upon receiving the accident report, Swaroopganj police swung into action and reached the scene, while rescuing the injured from the wreckage.
They got trapped under the machine being carried by truck
In the ghastly accident, the driver, the cleaner, and the woman got trapped under the machine that was placed in the truck. After a strenuous effort by the police, the iron machine was removed, and all the three were pulled out. However, by then, all the three had died at the site. Meanwhile, another woman passed away while being taken to Udaipur for primary treatment.
After the accident, a heavy traffic jam built up due to the collision between the truck and the auto. Swaroopganj police worked hard to clear the jam by making the traffic one-way. The police are currently trying to identify those who have died in the accident.
