Rajeshwariben Shah, elder sister of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, passed away in Mumbai today. Rajeshwariben was 65 years old and was suffering from lung disease. He was shifted from Ahmedabad to Mumbai just a month ago.
Eknath Shinde paid tribute
Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde has expressed grief after receiving information about the demise of Shah’s sister. He said that Rajeshvariben’s departure is a shock for the entire Shah family. I personally share this grief and pray to God that Amitbhai and the entire Shah family get the strength to overcome this shock.
Shah canceled all programs
A BJP functionary said she was not well for some time and was undergoing treatment at a Mumbai hospital, where she breathed her last in the early hours of Monday.
He said that after his sister’s death, Shah has canceled all his programs for the day. Rajeshwariben’s mortal remains were brought to her residence here this morning and her last rites will be performed at Thaltej crematorium in the afternoon.
Shah was in Ahmedabad
Shah, who represents Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, was in Ahmedabad since Sunday to celebrate Makar Sankranti with BJP supporters. On Monday, he was scheduled to attend two programs in Banaskantha and Gandhinagar districts.
Shah was scheduled to inaugurate various projects of Banas Dairy at Deodar village in Banaskantha. In the afternoon he was scheduled to inaugurate various developmental projects at the National Defense University in Gandhinagar.
