Dehradun: According to the Uttarakhand police press note, a hoax bomb threat has been received at Dehradun Jolly Grant airport through the email on Monday. Afterwards, the airport terminal was closed and security arrangements were tightened up. Along with this, all the passengers have been stopped near the barrier.

On December 9, 2024, at Kotwali Doiwala, Prabhakar Mishra, Director of Dehradun Airport, filed a complaint stating that at 11:54 am, a bomb threat message was received on the airport’s email. The sender claimed that a bomb was hidden in the bathroom of Dehradun Airport.

Jolly Grant Airport evacuated; security forces deployed

Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun received a bomb threat on Monday, prompting the evacuation of the terminal. All employees present at the airport were safely evacuated. Moreover, security agencies have surrounded the terminal and are investigating the entire area.

Threat was fake and misleading

On Monday, 09 December, at Kotwali Doiwala, Prabhakar Mishra, Director of Dehradun Airport, filed a complaint stating that a bomb threat message was received at 11:54 am on the airport’s email from r_singh9624@hotmail.com. The sender claimed that a bomb was hidden in the bathroom of Dehradun Airport. Upon investigation, the threat was found to be fake and misleading, intended only to create fear among the public. The hoax caused inconvenience to both airport employees and passengers. Based on the complaint, FIR No. 357/24 under Sections 132/351(3)/353(2) BNS vs. Unknown was registered at Doiwala Police Station.

Hoax threat mail was received on 16 Oct

On October 16, Dehradun Airport in Uttarakhand was closed for two hours following a potential bomb threat, leading to the diversion of flights to other airports. Authorities immediately took action upon receiving the information, and operations have now resumed. Due to the threat, the Bengaluru-Dehradun flight was diverted to Chandigarh.

Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, also known as the Air Gateway of Garhwal, is a domestic airport that plays a crucial role in tourism for the hill state.
