HNB university gets acting VC after Garhwal MP Anil Baluni’s request to HRD minister

Uttarakhand: A day after the Lok Sabha member of Garhwal seat in Uttarakhand, Anil Baluni met the union human resources development minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the ministry issued a notification regarding appointment of Professor Manmohan Singh Rauthan as acting VC of Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal Central University Garhwal (HNBGU).

Garhwal MP Baluni had requested the HRD minister to immediately appoint the VC of the HNBGU. Rauthan is currently serving as the dean of the engineering and technology department of Garhwal university, besides head of the computer science department in the same university. He has obtained the degree of M. Sc from the IIT Delhi. Later, he did his M. Tech from the Roorkee University in the year 1987.

He obtained Ph. D degree from Kumaon university

He also got the degree of Ph. ed from the Nainital-based Kumaon university in Uttarakhand. In 2001, Rauthan became a professor of the computer science and engineering department in Garhwal university. He also served as the controller of examination (Computerizations) from the year 2002 to 2011. He also played his role as controller examinations (Vocational education) between the years 2007 to 2015.

Garhwal MP also requested for the appointment of director of NIT, Srinagar

Baluni had also requested the HRD minister to appoint a director of the Srinagar-based National Institute of Technologies (NIT). The ministry has selected Karunesh Kumar Shukla as the acting director of the NIT, Srinagar. Shukla is currently posted as director of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technologies, Bhopal. Shukla will be in additional charge of the acting director of the NIT, Srinagar.

The post of the director of NIT, Srinagar was lying vacant since May 2024. Before the appointment of acting director of Nit, Srinagar, the ministry had appointed B V Ramanna as acting director of NIT, Srinagar. Six months after the completion of his tenure, the HRD ministry has appointed Shukla as acting director of NIT, Srinagar. Meanwhile, the tenure of HNB central university Professor Annapurna Nautiyal ended on October 31 this year.
