New Delhi: Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was admitted to the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) on Tuesday night after his health suddenly deteriorated. Upon his arrival, a team of doctors specialising in gastroenterology, respiratory diseases, and anaesthesia conducted a thorough examination. They identified an infection in his stomach as the primary cause of his illness. This is the second time in three days that the chief minister has sought medical attention at the hospital. Due to his condition, CM Sukhu was unable to attend election campaigns in Jammu & Kashmir and Haryana as planned.

Despite his illness, the chief minister remained active on social media. On Tuesday, he posted on platform X (formerly Twitter), discussing his government’s policies and initiatives. He highlighted the importance of expanding educational loan schemes, noting that many talented students had been unable to fulfil their dreams due to financial barriers.

“We have closely observed the challenges faced by students where taking a loan for education seemed like a distant dream, leaving many meritorious students’ aspirations unfulfilled,” CM Sukhu wrote in his post.

Despite illness, Sukhu remains active on social media

He went on to say that his government had taken responsibility by extending this initiative, ensuring that students from all backgrounds can pursue their dreams without obstacles. “This new era of education will not only provide opportunities in Himachal but also abroad, empowering our students to succeed on the global stage. They will make the Devbhoomi proud,” he added.

In a separate post, CM Sukhu emphasised that the welfare of Himachal’s citizens is at the heart of the state’s policies. He stated, “The first right to every resource in Himachal belongs to the people, and that will always remain the case.” He also spoke about the importance of strengthening hydroelectric projects as a step towards a brighter future.

“The decisions we make today are rays of hope for tomorrow. Devbhoomi Himachal is now leading new initiatives with a resolve for transformation,” CM Sukhu said in his post.
