Highway Heroes Campaign makes huge impact in Vijayawada as hundreds of truckers join in

The Highway Heroes Campaign, which has been travelling through seven cities across the country, is now making a massive impact in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. This wonderful initiative aims to honour drivers nationwide while also promoting their well-being through education and support. From mental and physical health to financial literacy, the remarkable drive has been dedicated to enhancing the lives of drivers since day one.

The main objective of the Highway Heroes Campaign organised in Vijayawada on May 10-11 was to make the future of the drivers bright. In this two-day programme, they were given mental, physical, financial and technical information through many important sessions. On the first day of the programme, M Krishnamurthy Naidu, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Vijayawada and YV Eswara Rao, General Secretary, Andhra Pradesh Lorry Owners Association, were present as the chief guests.

Besides, S Balamurugan, CSR Head, Ram Finance Limited; Srinivas, Joint Managing Director, Shriram Finance; Venkateswara Rao, Business Head; Gopal Rao, State Head; Ramanaraju, State Head; Suryanarayana, State Head and Syed Usman, Regional Business Head shared the stage with them.

Mental Health (The Yoga Institute): Yoga experts taught truck drivers ways to maintain mental peace and concentration through meditation, pranayama and simple yoga asanas.

Physical Fitness (Apollo Hospitals): The team at Apollo Hospitals organised a free health check-up camp which included blood pressure, sugar, eye check-up and physical fitness test.

TB Awareness (Piramal Swasthya): Experts from Piramal Swasthya provided information on symptoms of TB, prevention and importance of timely treatment.

Financial Literacy (NSE): Experts from National Stock Exchange (NSE) conducted sessions on budgeting, saving methods and measures to prevent cyber fraud.

Skill India Training: After this Government recognised training, drivers are provided with “12th Plus Value” certificate which is helpful in driving license renewal and is valid in more than 90 countries.

The ‘Highway Heroes’ campaign not only felicitated truck drivers in Vijayawada but also empowered them with health, finance and technical knowledge. This initiative is a significant step for the truck driver community towards bringing a positive change in their lives.
