Dehradun: Rajat, who saved the life of Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant in a car accident on 30 December 2022, is currently fighting for his life. He and his girlfriend, Manu Kashyap, consumed poison together.

Tragically, Manu has died in the incident. Rajat (25 years old) and Manu (21 years old) were in a love relationship for about five years and wanted to get married. When their families did not agree due to their different castes, they took this drastic step.

Family had arranged their marriages in their own castes

It is reported that the families had arranged marriages for both of them at different places. Manu was to get married in March. Rajat and Manu, residents of Buchcha Basti village of Shakarpur in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, left home at 4 PM on Sunday and consumed poison together in a sugarcane field. At 6 PM, a villager saw them in pain and informed their families. Both were admitted to Pragya Hospital in Jhabreda, Haridwar. Manu died at 4 AM on Tuesday, while Rajat was undergoing treatment.

Girl’s mother accuses Rajat of poisoning her daughter

The girl’s family brought her body back to the village. Meanwhile, someone informed the police. Purkaji police station in-charge Jaiveer Singh reached the village and sent the girl’s body for post-mortem. The police station in-charge said both were in a love affair and had swallowed poison. He stated that the girl’s mother has accused the young man of poisoning her daughter. Further investigation will be done after Rajat recovers. Rajat works in a mill located in Libbarhedi and has completed his 12th grade, while the girl had left her studies after 8th grade.

Rajat saved Rishabh Pant’s life when he was traveling to his home in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, in a Mercedes car on 30 December 2022. During that time, his car collided with a divider, and Rishabh Pant was seriously injured in the accident. Rajat came as an angel for Rishabh Pant, playing a crucial role in saving his life. After recovering, Rishabh gifted a scooter to Rajat in gratitude.
