New Delhi: Reacting sharply to Union minister Amit Shah’s comments on the issue of “infiltration” during release of BJP manifesto, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that infiltration from Bangladesh occurs through states ruled by the BJP. He also asked on what basis the central government has granted asylum to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh.
Addressing a poll rally at Ranka in Garhwa Assembly seat, Soren said, “I would like to know if the BJP has any kind of internal understanding with Bangladesh.”
“Kindly tell us on what basis have you permitted the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh to land in India and granted her asylum. Infiltrators from Bangladesh enter India through states governed by BJP,” he pointed out.

Amit Shah had alleged that Jharkhand was giving “shelter” to infiltrators as he released the BJP manifesto. He had said, “You have made infiltrators your vote bank. By ending appeasement politics, the BJP will flush out infiltrators and completely rebuild Jharkhand.”
Infiltration is a secondary issue in comparison to the key poll topic that is likely to dominate the election campaign — the BJP’s promise to implement a Uniform Civil Code, which has triggered a row in the tribal-dominated areas of the state.
The proposed implementation of UCC has been strongly contested by the Congress, a partner in the ruling JMM-led alliance.
Senior Congress leader Rajesh Thakur said that if Amit Shah is speaking in the capacity of Union Home Minister then it is incorrect. “If he is speaking as a leader of the BJP then fine. They are habitual liars anyway.” “Why are you saying that tribals will be out of the scope of UCC? Because you have included them in the UCC,” he pointed out.
The BJP’s “sankalp patra” for Jharkhand features 25 resolutions marking 25 years since the state was formed. Key among them is the welfare scheme for women “Gogo Didi” that assures Rs 2,100 a month to the women as a counter to Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s Maiyan Samman Yojana, which offers them Rs 1000 monthly. The BJP has also promised free cooking gas during festivals and generate 500,000 jobs for the state’s youth.
