
New Delhi: Days after being sworn in for a second term, Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini has retained several key portfolios, including Home and Finance, as part of his cabinet allocation. The Council of Ministers received their portfolios on Sunday, as Saini took charge of a broad range of important departments.
The chief minister will oversee the Home, Finance, Excise and Taxation, Planning, Town & Country Planning and Urban Estates, Information, Public Relations, Language and Culture, Administration of Justice, General Administration, Housing for All, Criminal Investigation (C.I.D), Personnel & Training, and Law and Legislative departments.

Minister Anil Vij, a prominent figure from Ambala Cantt, has been assigned the crucial portfolios of Energy, Transport, and Labour. Notably, he had previously held the Home portfolio under former chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s administration. Meanwhile, minister Shruti Choudhry will be responsible for Women & Child Development, as well as Irrigation & Water Resources.
Several other ministers have also been allocated significant departments. Rao Narbir Singh has been tasked with overseeing Industries, Commerce, Environment, Forests, and Wildlife. Mahipal Dhanda will manage School Education, while Vipul Goel will handle Revenue, Disaster Management, Urban Local Bodies, and Civil Aviation.
Arvind Kumar Sharma will be in charge of Cooperation and Jails, while Shyam Singh Rana has been entrusted with Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, and Ranbir Gangwa will manage Public Health Engineering. Krishan Kumar Bedi takes on the Social Justice, Empowerment, and SCs/BCs Welfare departments, and Minister Shruti Choudhry will oversee the development of Women and Children.
Arti Singh Rao gets Health, Medical Education
A further allocation includes Ms Arti Singh Rao, who will be responsible for Health, Medical Education, and Research, as well as Ayush. In a statement, chief minister Saini reaffirmed his resolve to continue working towards transforming Haryana into one of India’s most prosperous states, with a focus on sustainable development and the welfare of all its citizens.
The 54-year-old chief minister was sworn in during a grand ceremony at the Dussehra Ground in Panchkula, presided over by Haryana governor Bandaru Dattatreya. The event, held on Thursday, was attended by senior leaders of the NDA, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alongwith thousands of attendees from across the state.
The BJP secured its third consecutive government in Haryana, winning 48 out of the 90 assembly seats, while the Congress was second with 37 seats.
