Jamnagar: Civic authorities discovered a bathtub, a swimming pool, and several spacious rooms inside an illegally constructed religious site in Bachu Nagar Extension, Jamnagar, Gujarat. During a survey of the area, civic officials identified a total of 294 unauthorized structures, including four illegally built religious sites.
People have built these structures and are residing here for almost 20-25 years, NDTV reported quoting sources . The flow of Rangmati River is blocked by some of the houses in the area, posing a threat to nature, they said.
The blockage contributes to flooding in the area during the monsoon. Due to this, rainwater often accumulated in residential areas. The municipality began the demolition work today. After years, all the houses are now being demolished.
Illegal houses pose a threat to the environment
Four illegally built religious sites were found in the area. The officials were astonished to see lavish facilities, like swimming pools and bathtubs inside the properties. The area covered over 11,000 square feet.
Around 100 officials reached the demolition site. Thirteen tractors, three Hitachi machines and twelve JCBs are being used to execute the full process.
The price of the land at the demolition site is approximately Rs 200 crore, the source said.
