GRAP VI in Delhi hits travelers in Uttarakhand, UTC starts 180 BS VI buses operation

Dehradun: Following the implementation of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) 4 which prohibits all the state buses, except electronic buses, CNG buses and BS VI diesel buses from entering Delhi, the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation has taken effective steps to avoid inconvenience caused to the public.

A total of 194 diesel buses came to the halt following the enforcement of GRAP IV to air pollution in the Delhi. Uttarakhand Transport Corporation has now decided to  start the operation of 180 BS VI buses, which are available, on the Dehradun-Delhi route immediately.

Chief secretary directed officials to work on short-term action plan

Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, who held a meeting with the officials of the transport department on Tuesday evening, has given clear instructions to work on a short-term action plan to deal with the new situation in the wake of the ban on the old model buses due to rising levels of pollution.

The corporation has increased the frequency of buses on Delhi route

Another important step the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation has undertaken is to run 12 Volvo buses of BS VI model on Delhi route by increasing their frequency and rescheduling their time. The Uttarakhand Transport Corporation has recently purchased 130 new buses of the BS VI models. 77 such buses are currently providing their services on the Delhi route. The Corporation is set to bring the rest 53 buses into service on the Delhi route very soon.

The old model buses drops passengers near Delhi border

The old model buses of the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation, which have been prohibited from entering Delhi, are transporting the passengers Ghaziabad’s Mohan Nagar and Kaushambi located near the Delhi border in UP. The Corporation is also trying to coordinate with its counterpart Delhi Transport Corporation to arrange its (DTC’s) buses for the transportation of the passengers dropped near the Delhi border.

All bus depots are on alert mode

All the bus depots of Uttarakhand have been put on alert mode. Uttarakhand Transport Corporation claimed that it has made its all efforts to avoid problems for its passengers in the state. Uttarakhand Transport Corporation has also been directed by the state government to hold talks at appropriate level on the decision of the proposal to purchase 175 new buses.
