Four killed after being run over by truck on Delhi-Ajmer highway near Jaipur

Jaipur: Four labourers were killed in a horrific accident on the Delhi-Ajmer highway near Rajasthan’s Jaipur on Tuesday after being run over by a speeding truck, police said.

The incident took place in the Daulatpura police station area near culvert number 14 on the highway. According to preliminary information, the victims were working on the highway when they were mowed down by the out-of-control truck, police said.

The accused truck driver has been arrested and his vehicle seized. He has been identified as Ram Prasad and charged under relevant sections of the law.

Meanwhile, the victims’ bodies have been sent for post-mortem and the report is awaited following which the bodies will be handed over to the next of kin. An investigation has been launched into the accident and further details are being ascertained.
