Encounter underway in Kathua

Security forces killed one terrorist in the Kathua encounter, while efforts to locate a second terrorist were ongoing. Jammu Zone IPS ADG Anand Jain and DIG JKS Shiv Sharma were on site, overseeing the operation. The area had been cordoned off and security measures were tightened with barricades set up and thorough checks conducted on all vehicles passing through.

Drone images emerged showing the deceased terrorist in Kathua, who was identified as a Pakistani national. According to Anand Jain, the security forces had initiated a search operation on September 28 after receiving intelligence about the presence of three to four foreign terrorists in the region.

In another encounter in Kulgam on September 28, two terrorists were killed, but five security personnel, including a Jammu and Kashmir Police officer, sustained injuries. The deceased terrorists were identified as Aqib Ahmed from Chadura in Shergojri Budgam and Umais Wani from Chawalgam in Kulgam.

Both were believed to be affiliated with the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. Authorities recovered two AK-47 rifles, five magazines, pistols, and other weapons from the site of the encounter.
