Drunk man sets fire at Hyderabad petrol pump, narrow escape for woman & child | Video

Hyderabad: In a shocking incident in Hyderabad, a man reportedly under the influence of alcohol ignited a lighter at a petrol station, endangering himself and those nearby. The event, which took place on Saturday, quickly gained attention on social media after a video of the incident went viral.

The individual, identified as Chiran, arrived at the fuel station in the Nacharam area while visibly intoxicated and was seen holding a cigarette lighter. An employee of the station, Arun, questioned whether Chiran intended to light the lighter and then provoked him by daring him to “do it if he had the guts.”

In a reckless response, Chiran lit the lighter, which resulted in a sudden fire igniting as fuel was being dispensed into a scooter. CCTV footage captured the terrifying moment when a woman and a child standing nearby narrowly escaped the flames, while others fled in panic amid the chaos.

Two arrested

Authorities arrested both Chiran and Arun, with the police charging them with “mischief by fire and explosives.” Both men, originally from Bihar, are set to appear in court. Inspector G Rudvir Kumar of the Nacharam Police commented on the incident, stating, “This dangerous act not only jeopardized lives but could have led to a catastrophic explosion, particularly in this congested area with heavy traffic,” NDTV quoted Inspector G Rudvir Kumar, Nacharam Police, as saying.
