New Delhi: Drama unfolded at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru towards the end of Day 4 of the 1st Test between India and New Zealand as Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and senior batter Virat Kohli were spotted arguing with the umpires over the play being called off early due to bad light. Day 4’s play was called off after Jasprit Bumrah bowled only 4 balls during the 1st over of New Zealand’s second innings in Bengaluru.

New Zealand openers Tom Latham and Devon Conway opened the batting for the visitors in their second innings after India posted 462 runs on the board in their second innings to set up a target of 107 runs for the visitors. India were looking for early wickets with still some time left for the day to end.

However, the on-field umpires decided to stop the rain-curtailed day in the very first over after dark clouds took over the stadium. The umpires deemed that there was not enough light to continue play as the New Zealand batters left the field immediately. However, the umpires’ decision didn’t go down well with the Indian team.
