On October 29, Dhanteras (also known as Dhantrayodashi or Dhanvantari Trayodashi) will be observed, as per Drik Panchang. Celebrated on the Dwadashi Tithi, Dhanteras is marked by Lakshmi-Kuber Puja and Yama Deepam, believed to bring good fortune and health into households. Devotees light lamps and offer prayers to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kuber to invite prosperity.

October 30, 2024 – Wednesday:

On October 30, Trayodashi Tithi will be celebrated with rituals like Kali Chaudas and Hanuman Puja. Kali Chaudas holds deep meaning, with devotees worshipping Mahakali Mata to seek her protection, and strength, and to ward off negativity.

October 31, 2024 – Thursday:

On Thursday, October 31, 2024, Abhyang Snan, a ritualistic bath as part of Diwali traditions will be observed. Falling on the Chaturdashi Tithi, this day is marked by the celebration of Narak Chaturdashi or Tamil Deepavali, where devotees engage in purifying rituals and early morning baths. Additionally, Kali Puja is observed, especially in certain regions, to seek the blessings of Goddess Kali for protection and removal of negativity. This day is filled with rituals that emphasise purification and the victory of light over darkness.

November 1, 2024 – Friday:

On Friday, November 1, 2024, the festival of Diwali will be celebrated with grandeur, falling on the Amavasya Tithi. This auspicious day is marked by Lakshmi Puja and Ganesha Puja, where devotees pray for prosperity, fortune, and wisdom.

Many observe Kedar Gauri Vrat and Chopda Puja, particularly in business communities, symbolising a fresh start for financial growth and success.

Additional rituals like Sharda Puja, Diwali Snan, and Diwali Devpuja are performed to purify the body and soul, inviting peace and prosperity into homes. Diwali truly embodies the triumph of light over darkness, bringing families together to celebrate with love and devotion.

November 2, 2024 – Saturday:

Pratipada Tithi on November 2, marks Govardhan Puja, also known as Annakut. The day includes Bali Pratipada and Dyuta Krida traditions. Devotees pay homage to Lord Krishna, commemorating his lifting of the Govardhan Hill as a symbol of divine protection, and celebrate with a grand feast in gratitude for prosperity in the new year.

November 3, 2024 – Sunday:

On Dwitiya Tithi, Bhaiya Dooj, also called Bhau Beej, celebrates the sibling bond with sisters performing rituals for their brothers’ protection and happiness. Additional observances include Yama Dwitiya and Chitragupta Puja, where blessings are sought for family well-being and longevity.

The Diwali week is filled with meaningful rituals and special moments with loved ones. From Dhanteras’ first glimmering diyas to Bhaiya Dooj’s sweet exchanges, the spirit of togetherness and gratitude fills every day with joy. Embrace the beauty of the festival and all the warmth it brings!
