Purnea: Days after Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav was allegedly threatened by Lawrence Bishnoi gang, the police on Tuesday arrested a man identified as Ram Babu Yadav. As per the police, a plan was hatched by the MP’s associates to increase the security of the MP. However, Pappu Yadav rejected the claim saying the police were behaving the same way when a Congress leader was shot at, who later died of injuries.
According to Purnea superintendent of police (SP) Kartikeya K Sharma, debunked the claim that the Bishnoi gang was behind the threat and that the plan was hatched to increase the security of the MP. While the accused was taken into custody from Bhojpur, the police have also seized two videos that were used in alleged threat of Yadav.

Rejecting the police claim that a plot was hatched to get more security, Papu yadav took to X and wrote, “The Police is behaving in the same way as the then government and administration did when late Congress MLA Hemant Shahi was shot. He was accused of pretending to be injured, later Hemant, who was undergoing treatment, died! The same thing is happening again.”

‘Yet to confirm accused’s statement’
Speaking to reports, the police official said, “ Whatever the accused told us is not yet confirmed and is under investigation. The accused told us that he was contacted by the associates of the MP. He was told that in order to improve the security arrangements of the MP, it was necessary that some kind of threat be made. He was made to ready for the same”
“The accused was lured with money and was told that he would be made a political leader in the future. The threats were shot in videos. He had sent one. We have recovered both the videos and are probing them. While theaccused was He was given Rs. 2,000 before making the video. He was told that he would send Rs. 2 lakh later,” he added.
Pappu Yadav was gifted a bulletproof car recently
Amid the alleged threat, Yadav recently got a bulletproof car as a gift from one of his friends. There had also been an upgrade in security. Yadav later praised the Land Cruiser vehicle and observed that the car not only can withstand bullets but can also withstand the impact of rocket launcher attack.
