New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry has reported a concerning uptick in COVID-19 cases in Delhi, with the national capital now reporting 691 active infections. This surge places Delhi amongst the four regions in India most severely impacted by the ongoing pandemic, trailing only Kerala, Gujarat, and West Bengal. The national figures paint a similar picture, with a total of 6,815 active cases and three newly reported deaths in the past 24 hours.

The recent death of a 90-year-old woman in Delhi serves as a stark reminder of the heightened vulnerability of individuals with pre-existing health conditions. The Ministry’s report indicated that the woman suffered from respiratory acidosis, congestive heart failure, and chronic kidney disease, with COVID-19 listed as an incidental factor in her death.
This underscores the importance of vaccination and preventative measures, particularly for vulnerable populations.
Meanwhile, in Maharashtra, 89 new positive cases were reported, bringing the state’s total of active cases to 615. Since January, Maharashtra has recorded 19 deaths related to COVID-19. The sustained increase in active cases across several states underscores the need for continued public health vigilance and a proactive approach to managing potential future outbreaks.
The Union Health Ministry continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as they become available. Citizens are encouraged to remain informed and take appropriate
