Delhi Police files charge sheet against former Congress leader, others for smuggling Rs 13,000 crore worth of drugs

Kolkata: Delhi Police has said in its charge sheet that a Dubai-based drug cartel had smuggled 1,289 kg of cocaine and 40 kg of hydroponic Thai marijuana into the national capital using several pharma companies of South India and Gujarat.

There are 19 accused in this case, out of which 14 have been arrested, including former Congress leader Tushar Goyal. The remaining 5 accused are said to be absconding. According to an India Express report, the absconding accused include Dubai-based businessman Virendra Basoya, his sons Rishabh Basoya (25), Hrithik Bajaj (36), Pramod (50), and Vikas Rane (49).

According to the police, Rishabh Basoya coordinated with the Mumbai customers while Vikas Rane was to transport the marijuana from Delhi to Mumbai and distribute it at rave parties. Pramod oversaw the financial transactions.

Charge sheet of more than 10,000 pages

The Delhi Police on June 12 filed a charge sheet of over 10,000 pages in the Patiala House court. In the charge sheet, the police have said that three major raids were conducted in October 2024, in which 562 kg of cocaine was seized from Mahipalpur, 208 kg from Ramesh Nagar and 518 kg from Aavkar Drugs Company located in Gujarat’s Ankleshwar. Three directors of this company have also been arrested.

Refined in Aavkar Drugs

Police said that these drugs came to India from South America via Dubai and were first refined at Aavkar Drugs, then sent to Delhi-NCR through a pharma company named Pharma Solution Services. The Police investigation is still ongoing.

According to the Special Cell, so far 1,289 kg of cocaine and 40 kg of hydroponic Thai marijuana have been seized in this case, which is worth Rs 13,000 crore. Police said that all this was part of the consignment that was allegedly smuggled by the cartel run by Basoya.

Drugs reached India via Dubai

It is being told that these medicines came to India from South America via Dubai to several places. They were to be transported in several consignments by road for refining and processing. These were then transported to Delhi-NCR by road in the form of medicine packages of Pharma Solutions Services. During the investigation, it was found that the medicines belonged to Pharma Solutions Services and came from Aavkar Drugs.
