New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday (November 28) sought the response of the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government on a plea by seven Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs from the national capital seeking a direction to to implement the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).
A bench comprising Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Manmeet PS Arora, while hearing the plea by BJP MPs, issued notice to the Delhi government, the Centre and the Lieutenant Governor and sought the responses.
High Court granted time to respondents to file reply on affidavits
The counsel representing the respondents sought time from the court to file reply on affidavits and the court granted it time.
“Issue notice. Counsel for the respondents prays for and is granted time to file reply on affidavits,” the High Court bench said.
The High Court directed the next hearing on the plea on December 11 along with its suo-motu plea concerning the state of critical care in government hospitals in Delhi.

Hearing the matter yesterday, the High Court expressed its shock, saying that “You may have difference of opinion but in this case you are refusing aid.. None of your machines are working. The machines have to work but you have no money actually.”
Seven MPs have sought the Delhi government to implement the healthcare scheme
The seven MPs from the national capital – Harsh Malhotra, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Praveen Khandelwal, Yogendra Chandolia, Manoj Tiwari, Kamaljeet Sehrawat and Bansuri Swaraj – have submitted that Delhi was the only Union Territory in the country where the Centre’s healthcare scheme providing essential health coverage of Rs 5 lakh for the underprivileged was yet to be implemented.
The petitioner MPs have sought the Delhi government to implement the Centre-funded healthcare scheme, stating that “clash of political ideologies must take a back seat” in the interest of welfare of the residents of Delhi.
