New Delhi: A fire was reported from a coaching centre located in central Delhi. The blaze engulfed the fourth and fifth floors of the building which houses the coaching institute, said an official from the Delhi Fire Services.
No casualties
The incident caused panic among students and staff of the coaching centre. Fortunately there were no casualties in the accident. The Delhi Fire Services received a call about the fire at 11:08 am on Sunday. Officials said that the blaze had engulfed a building on Bada Bazar Road in Old Rajinder Nagar.
The department immediately got into action and 8 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The blaze was brought under control by 12:20 pm, said officials. Preliminary investigation pointed to a suspected short circuit, which might have caused the fire. However the same was not confirmed and an investigation is underway to know the exact reason for the fire.
Fire at hotel in West Delhi
In a separate incident, a fire broke out at a hotel in Paschim Vihar. The fire broke out around noon on Sunday. A distress call was received at the Delhi Fire Services at around 1:15 pm. The caller informed that a fire had engulfed a room and a hall on the third floor of the hotel.
The hotel building has 5 floors, including the basement and ground floor. Five fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the spot, said a fire department official. They managed to bring the fire under control by 1:50 pm.
There were no deaths reported from the fire. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
