Kolkata: In a fresh development in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape and murder case, a team of senior officers of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) today visited the Kolkata hospital to inspect the security arrangements. The CISF, which guards airports and Parliament, has been directed by the Supreme Court to take charge of security at the hospital where the body of 31-year-old trainee doctor was found on August 9.
The CISF team led by DIG K Pratap Singh visited the state-run medical establishment this morning. The top officers talked to the local police and hospital authorities about the security arrangements.
Nothing can be a better example of Mamata Banerjee’s incompetency than this.

SC orders deployment of CISF at RG Kar hospital
Earlier on Tuesday, the apex court directed the deployment of the central paramilitary force at the Kolkata hospital to enable doctors to resume work. The SC also slammed the Kolkata Police, and asked how mob of thousands entered the hospital.
“In the aftermath of the brutal incident and the demonstrations which followed, the state government was expected to ensure the deployment of the state machinery to prevent a breach of law and order.
“It was all the more necessary to do so since investigation of the crime which took place in the precincts of the hospital was underway. We are unable to comprehend how the state was not prepared to deal with the incident of vandalisation of the premises of the hospital,” the top court said.
The semi-nude body of the postgraduate trainee doctor, who was allegedly raped and murdered, was found in the seminar room of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9, sparking nationwide outrage. A civic volunteer, Sanjay Roy, was arrested in connection with the case the next day.
