Cyclone alert: Tamil Nadu to receive heavy rain from Oct 21-23, details inside

Chennai: A low-pressure area forming over the Middle East Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Andaman Sea is likely to intensify into a storm by October 23, prompting Tamil Nadu to brace for heavy rain and thunderstorms. The storm will move northwest, reaching the Orissa-West Bengal coast by October 24 morning.

According to the Chennai Meteorological Center, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning will occur in many areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from October 21 to 23.

Heavy to very heavy rain is predicted in Thanjavur, Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai, Madurai, Dindigul, Theni, Tirupur, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Erode, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Tirupattur, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Cuddalore, Karur, Salem, Namakkal, Tiruchirappalli, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, and Mayiladuthurai districts.

Chennai’s weather forecast indicates partly cloudy skies for the next 48 hours, with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms in some areas. Temperatures will range from 26-27°C (min) to 33-34°C (max). Residents are advised to stay alert and follow weather updates for further information.
