New Delhi: YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who was arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan and having alleged links with Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIOs), is being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB).
She made multiple trips to Pakistan, including one just ahead of the May 22 Pahalgam terror attack, as well as China. These trips have come under the lens of the probing agencies. Even as they interrogate Jyoti, two pages from her diary have emerged, which offer a glimpse into her 10-day stay in Pakistan. The Haryana Police recovered these.
According to an NDTV report, in an undated diary entry, she wrote that she had returned to her country India, after a 10-day trip from Pakistan. She added that “during this time, I received a lot of love from the people of Pakistan. Our subscribers and friends also came to meet us. The two days we got to visit Lahore were not enough”.
Jyoti also described Pakistan as “crazy” and “colourful”, and added that her experience in the neighbouring country was beyond words.
In one of her entries, she wrote about a request she made to the Pakistani authorities: “Protect the temples there and allow Indians to reunite with family members they were separated from in 1947,” as per the report.
Jyoti has a channel called ‘Travel with Jo’, with over 3.77 lakh subscribers. On May 16, she was arrested from her residence in Hisar by the Haryana Police. The YouTuber was booked under Sections 3 and 5 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923, and Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
During i8nvestigation, it was found that Jyoti had been in constant touch with a Pakistani staffer from the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi, Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, from November 2023 to March 2025.
The YouTuber’s financial transactions and travel records also came under scanner. The police has said that her known sources of income did not justify her international trips.
