During the inspection, it was found that these resto-bars and pubs were not only open after permitted hours but also serving liquor after 11 pm to the customers. On the violation of excise policy, the liquor licenses of three bars have been suspended for 15 days and one manager was booked for misbehaving with the administration team.

Several complaints about these clubs and rest-bar

Notably, Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed Dehradun’s district magistrate Savin Bansal to intensify monitoring and ensure compliance with rules and regulations after receiving several complaints regarding these clubs and bars for violating the rules. In the past, the residents in the Rajpur Road and Chakrata Road in Dehradun have been expressing their resentment over unchecked activities in Dehradun’s nightlife hotspots. According to a resident of Rajpur Road area, “Usually customers drive back to their homes in the intoxicated state endangering the lives of many. Moreover, these pubs play very loud music disturbing the people living in nearby areas.”

In the direction of DM, five teams of administration raided bars

Dehradun District Magistrate (DM) Savin Bansal convened a late-night meeting with officials on Tuesday at 11 pm. Afterwards, a five-member team was promptly formed to carry out simultaneous raids across the city. At a restaurant, instructions were issued to file an FIR against the manager for serving liquor to over 20 people after 11 pm. DM Savin Bansal stated, “All SDMs have been instructed to impose penalties on any bar or pub found operating after 11:00 pm, and to take legal action for the cancellation of their license.”

Opening time of the bar operating in the state is from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm

The DM and Additional District Magistrate (ADM) received complaints about bars on Rajpur Road and Chakrata Road remaining open beyond the permitted hours. Resultantly, the liquor licenses of three bars have been suspended for 15 days by the administration team. DM Savin Bansal said that according to the rules, the opening time of the bar operating in the state is from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm. For violating this, the license of bar licensees has been suspended for 15 days.

Significant action against beer bars and pubs

The district administration has taken significant action against beer bars and pubs operating beyond the prescribed time limit. Bristol Bar Ratan Palace at Kishannagar Chowk, Ralph Club Teddy Boy Bar at Jakhan, and Rion Tukda Bar U & G Food Beverage on Rajpur Road were all found serving liquor late into the night. Consequently, the licenses of all three establishments have been suspended for 15 days for violating the excise policy.

Additionally, six students, three boys and three girls, were tragically killed in a severe collision between a truck and an Innova car near ONGC intersection in Dehradun’s Cantt police station area on Monday night.
