New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has been chosen to head a crucial all-party delegation traveling abroad, even though his name was not on the Congress party’s original list of suggested nominees. As per Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, the Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, reached out to the party on the morning of May 16, requesting four names to be considered for the delegations being sent overseas to present India’s stance on terrorism emanating from Pakistan.
