Mumbai: Even after six days of election results in Maharashtra, which ensured Mahayuti’s return to power in the state the alliance is yet to announce the chief minister of the state. The ruling alliance is expected to announce the name in a couple of days.
Notably, an important meeting of Mahayuti leaders was held at Home Minister Amit Shah’s residence in Delhi on Thursday. As per News18, Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had asked for 12 ministerial berths for his party. While he was reportedly offered the post of Deputy CM, Shinde wanted the home and urban development portfolios.
‘Shinde may prefer to stay in Maharashtra’
While speaking to the channel, Dhairyasheel Sambhajirao Mane, a senior Shiv Sena leader claimed that while Shinde would prefer to stay in Maharashtra, he may push his son Shrikant’s name for a ministerial berth in Delhi. He added that discussions are going on for important portfolios in the state. He added that some clarity may come out in the next couple of days.
Earlier in the day, Shinde left for his village in Satara district due to which an important meeting of Mahayuti could not take place on Friday morning. Even as the development led to a lot of speculations, another Shiv Sena leader Uday Samant sought to dismiss reports that Shinde was upset. He further claimed that Shinde was unwell during his meeting with Shah on Thursday.
What Eknath Shinde said in press conference
Holding a press conference earlier this week, Shinde told media persons that he would accept whatever decision the BJP top brass takes on the next chief minister. When asked about the meeting that was to take place between Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar Samant said as per PTI, “If the meeting does not take place physically, it can also be held through video conference.” “He is not upset. It will be wrong to say he has gone to Dare because he is upset,” the Sena leader added.
